Honor In Mount And Blade Warband
As far as I can remember, renown does (very slightly) affect the chance of you receiving new lands.Last I checked, the variables affecting this were your relationship with the king, your renown, how many villages/castles/towns you already own (with towns being a major detriment to your chance, and villages only slightly lowering it) as well as a random dice roll. And I seem to recall the dice roll being the biggest factor in deciding if you get the land or not, although it is quite possible they've changed this since I haven't checked for quite some time. And I'd say negative renown is quite bad, as (I think) it affects your relationship with lords and kings. It may have some other effects as well, though I am not sure. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. To quote an old post: As I understand it the king allocates a fief based on your renown plus the renown of those lords who support you, versus that of the opposing candidate plus his supporters.

Warband Honor
So yeah, renown is pretty important when it comes to receiving lands. The amount of fiefs you can hold (ie, before people start telling you that you already have enough land) is also, roughly, derived from your renown levelAnd I assume you mean 'negative honour'? AFAIK some lords will be impressed by high honour and some will be impressed by negative honour. I've no idea as to the impact of this. Click to expand. It's rather fuzzy, at least to me.I can tell you that if you have too much of it you won't be granted any new fiefs. The king/lords will flat out tell you that they won't support you because you have too much of it. I don't know whether it has any other impact.I can also tell you that when being a Marshall you accumulate it rather fast, since you get blamed for all the bad things that happen in the kingdom such as losing castles/towns, lords losing battles and villages getting looted.
You also gain controversy by doing the quest of denouncing another lord. You lose controversy over time, and also by helping out villagers if they get attacked.I'm sure there's more that affects it. There are various things that will make your standing suffer and so you must avoid them if you want to be taken seriously as a king. If you have a high Controversy rating you run the risk of incurring the wrath of everyone. You can check your Controversy by selecting Notes then Characters. To avoid controversy:Always make sure you take care of your lands.
Mount And Blade Honor Rating
If you don’t protect them and develop them your reputation will suffer.Be careful who you make into a vassal. Some lords will get upset and outraged if you grant status to a commoner. You can afford to promote companions like Alayen because they are of noble blood.G et permission for your love affairs. If you sneak around behind the backs of male relatives or worse elope with a lady then you’ll anger people.
What Does Honor Do In Mount And Blade Warband
Click to expand.I think and feel that controversy as a marshall is tied to the decisions you make as a war leader and the support you acquire from them. Some lords support your decisions, others dont.It would be rather easy to check if the option to release temporarily a lord from its duty to the ongoing campaign worked. So far, lords do not return to their holdings and keep following the war leader, everytime they are pointed to their freedom.Their feelings towards the war decisions can be pooled and releasing those who disagree would be a way to maintain controversy low. If you are on a defensive set up, keeping only lords who agree with a defensive approach would help to keep controversy low etcI got that feeling because I noticed that AI marshalls who gathered a high consensus see their controversy rise slowly whereas a marshall whose decisions are controversed by many gain controversy fast.
